Overview
The Production Workflow manages the complete process of converting raw materials or components into finished products. It provides a structured flow for creating production orders, consuming required materials, recording production activities, and updating finished goods inventory.
Production Workflow Process
The production process follows these stages:
- Create Production Order
- Select Product and Quantity
- Define Required Materials
- Review Production Details
- Start Production
- Consume Raw Materials
- Record Production Output
- Complete Production
- Update Inventory
Create Production Order
A Production Order is created to initiate the manufacturing process.
The Production Order contains:
- Production Order Number
- Production Date
- Product to be manufactured
- Production Quantity
- Warehouse
- Required raw materials or components
- Production notes or remarks
Select Product and Quantity
Select the finished product that needs to be manufactured and enter the required production quantity.
The system uses the selected product and quantity to determine the materials required for production.
Define Required Materials
Add the raw materials or components required to manufacture the selected product.
For each material, specify:
- Material/Product
- Required Quantity
- Unit of Measurement
- Source Warehouse
- Remarks, if applicable
The required material quantity is calculated based on the production quantity and the defined production requirements.
Review Production Details
Review the Production Order before starting the production process.
Verify:
- Finished product
- Production quantity
- Raw materials
- Material quantities
- Warehouse details
- Production date
- Other production information
Start Production
Once the Production Order is confirmed, start the production process.
The Production Order moves into the active production stage, allowing the required materials and production output to be recorded.
Consume Raw Materials
Record the raw materials consumed during production.
The system reduces the available quantity of the selected raw materials from the relevant warehouse based on the quantities consumed.
Record Production Output
Record the quantity of finished products produced.
The produced quantity is added to the selected warehouse as finished goods.
Complete Production
After all required materials have been consumed and the finished quantity has been recorded, complete the Production Order.
The completed Production Order records the final production details for reference and inventory tracking.
Inventory Impact
Completing a Production Order results in the following inventory movements:
- Raw material stock is reduced based on consumption.
- Finished product stock is increased based on production output.
- Production-related inventory movements are recorded for tracking and reporting.
Production Order Status
The Production Order progresses through different stages based on the production activity:
- Draft – Production Order is created but not started.
- In Progress – Production activities are being carried out.
- Completed – Production is finished and inventory has been updated.

Completed Production Orders maintain production information such as:
- Production Order Number
- Production Date
- Finished Product
- Production Quantity
- Materials Consumed
- Warehouse
- Production Status
- Production Remarks
