The Closing Workflow defines the process for completing a sales deal and recording its final outcome. It helps users move deals from active sales stages to the appropriate closing status while maintaining accurate deal information.
Deal Closing
A deal can be progressed through the sales stages until a final outcome is reached. The closing process generally results in one of the following outcomes:
- Closed Won – Indicates that the deal has been successfully completed and the business opportunity has been won.
- Closed Lost – Indicates that the deal has been completed without a successful sale.
Closed Won
When a deal is successfully converted, it can be moved to Closed Won status. This identifies the deal as a successful sales outcome and allows the completed opportunity to be tracked separately from active deals.
Closed Lost
When a deal is no longer expected to proceed, it can be moved to Closed Lost status. This identifies the opportunity as unsuccessful and removes it from the active sales pipeline.
Deal Information at Closure
The deal record maintains important information when the opportunity is closed, including:
- Deal Name – Identifies the completed opportunity.
- Amount – Displays the value associated with the deal.
- Stage – Displays the final stage of the deal.
- Close Date – Records the expected or completed closing date.
- Account Name – Identifies the associated customer account.
- Contact Name – Identifies the associated contact.
- Team – Displays the sales team responsible for the deal.
- Owner – Displays the user responsible for managing the deal.
Closing Status Tracking
The Deal List provides separate categories for Closed Won and Closed Lost deals. These categories allow users to review completed opportunities and distinguish successful deals from unsuccessful ones.
Closing Workflow Management
The Closing Workflow provides a clear method for completing sales opportunities, maintaining accurate deal statuses, and separating active deals from finalized outcomes. This helps sales teams monitor completed business and maintain an organized sales pipeline.
